A crowd of students and families around a stand at a LeadUp community fundraiser, blurred with motion.

Behind the headline, handwritten sign-in notes such as “amara o. food packing 9-12 3.0 hrs?” flow into a status chip that turns from Checked in to Pending review to Approved, and come out as typed records like “Amara O. · Food packing · 3.0 hrs” with a check mark.

Show up.It counts.

The service tracker LeadUp built for its own chapters in Maryland, Virginia, and New Jersey. Sign up for events, check in at the door, and every hour lands on a verified record you can hand to anyone.

How an hour gets counted.

Four steps, all on your phone. LeadUp runs in the browser and installs to your home screen, so there is nothing to find in an app store.

this part used to be a clipboard
  1. Find your chapter’s events, tap Sign Up, and add it to your calendar. Full events open a waitlist, so you still get a shot.

  2. Your organizer puts a QR code up at the event. Scan it and you are on the roster. No paper sheet to lose.

  3. Afterwards you submit one record: that you attended, your hours, a line about what you did, and one photo from the event.

  4. An organizer approves it. The hours land on your record, your badges move, and the leaderboard catches up.

One record. Everyone who needs it.

The same approved hours show up everywhere they need to go, and nowhere they shouldn’t.

Why we built it

Our hours lived on clipboards, in group chats, and in three spreadsheets.

We coordinate LeadUp’s events. At the end of every semester students asked us how many hours they had, and the honest answer was somewhere between a sign-in sheet, a text thread, and a form a supervisor forgot to sign.

So we built our own tracker. Students sign up and check in on their phones, organizers approve in one queue, and the record adds itself up. The students who show up the most finally have the most proof. It is free for every LeadUp student.

Who can join?

Students in a LeadUp chapter. Create an account, pick your region and school (or ask for yours to be added), and your chapter’s events show up.

How do my hours get approved?

After an event you submit one record: whether you attended, your actual hours, what you did, and one photo from the event. A chapter organizer approves it, adjusts it, or asks for a correction.

Can I log service outside LeadUp events?

Yes. Log external service with your supervisor’s name and email. They confirm it from a link, and then an organizer reviews it like any other record.

Can my parents see my hours?

If you add them. Parents get their own read-only account that shows approved hours, verified events, goals, and badges. Nothing pending shows up there.

What shows up in public?

Only totals from verified work. Pending claims and student identities never appear there, and you can opt out of public recognition.

Is there an app to download?

No store download. LeadUp runs in your browser and installs to your home screen like an app, on iPhone and Android.
